Job Description Job Description Job Announcement: A Firefighter must be capable of performing general fire duties which include protecting life and property from fire, accidents, natural disasters or other occurrences where the intervention of the department and its personnel can limit, contain, or prevent the loss of life and destruction of property. Under direct supervision, this employee is responsible for suppression, rescue activities, and maintaining facilities and associated equipment. Employee must pass annual physical agility test, firefighter certifications as issued through the Texas Commission on Fire Protection Personnel Standards and Education, the City of Alvin Policies and Procedures Manual and the Alvin Fire Department's Policies and Procedures Manual. The Firefighter reports directly to the Fire Department Administrator and indirectly to the Officers and Volunteers of the department. The Fire Department is made up of Paid Support Staff and Volunteer Firefighters; the paid Firefighter must be able to work alongside and with all department employees and volunteers in emergency situations, training and while doing routine tasks. Minimum Qualifications: In addition to a high school diploma or GED equivalent, this position requires an active Basic Structure Fire Suppression, Driver/Operator-Pumper, and Driver/Operator-Aerial Certifications from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection. Employee must also hold a valid State of Texas driver's license appropriate for the level of vehicles operated. Salary: Starting Salary: $26.05 an hour Job Posted by ApplicantPro
